How Important is Music Really?

I don't know about you, but major moments, times, years, dances, events in my life can almost be measured by music. It seems there is a song for each major event in my life that brings it into focus. One song that stands out to represent that period of time or that specific event. One piece of music that brings about the emotion of moments that would have been forgotten long ago without the aid of those lyrics to bring the moments back. Am I alone in this or do others find this to be true for them as well? Just curious and I would love to hear about some of the specific songs and events.
